Ruby is one of Dots pups born here at Greyhound Gap in May 2022 who has very sadly come back into our care today due to the illness of her owner.
Ruby is fabulous with dogs, cats including kittens and has been around babies since birth as the family had a Grandchild born around the time they adopted her. In most instances that makes her the chocolate box dog.
Ruby will need to live with another dog. She has lived with both a male and a female and got on well with them both. Ruby does need to be rehomed with other dogs. She would not cope as an only dog sadly.
However, it is clear to see that Ruby has had very few boundaries so there is still work needed to be done. We have bought her into the kennels house here so that we can start to work with settling her down. Ruby needs an active home. One that is willing to invest in a young busy lurcher with lurcher experience, she needs plenty of walks and good free running alongside enrichment and teaching about calm time.
When Ruby left us here at Greyhound Gap she was crate trained but unfortunately on return she is not so we are setting about re establishing that once again. We have been informed that although she is use to being left she will meddle and chew with things if she has not had exercise or if she is not contained. She is already much calmer having had play time with the other house dogs and having landed back timid and worried seems tail high and happy.
Ruby loves to learn. Some of her littermates have gone on to compete at agility and are doing well. They are intelligent, biddable, food motivated and really did have the best start in life. They are also very much their Mothers children though and can be quite strong willed at time so that needs noting.
Ruby is housetrained and travels well. Out and about on lead she will pull if allowed and more work needs to be done on that side. She can be a little vocal if excited but no more than other lurchers who can be frustrated greeters.
Ruby is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, spayed, microchipped and will also be rehomed with one months free insurance from Petplan.
Ruby is currently based in Stoke on Trent and any family wishing to offer her a home will need to be willing to travel to meet her with all members of the immediate family and any current resident dogs.
