Jacob is a 6 month old lurcher pup.
Jacob was found abandoned in woodland with his littermate Marley. Having served their time and neither being reclaimed they are now looking for their homes.
Jacob is a lot more sensitive and intelligent than Marley and although from the same litter does not seem to have as much prey drive.
However, we do feel they are from working lines so that needs to be taken into consideration.
Jacob met and ran with a 6kg Dachshund x and was very respectful towards her, especially when he over stepped the mark and was told. He backed down immediately and began to lick her face. Due to this we do feel with a VERY dog savvy cat who has lived with sighthounds before and sensible introductions he may with work learn to live alongside them.
Jacob will need a home with someone around all or most of the time. He is a puppy and needs someone willing to invest into his housetraining, confidence building for alone time and socialisation. An older confident sighthound female would be perfect. One willing to play but also tell him when enough is enough. He could also live as part of a mixed pack but we would not place him one on one with another male dog and we do not feel he would be suited to being an only dog.
Out and about on walks Jacob walks like a dream. However, he can be vocal when he sees other dogs.
He is a puppy and very much a frustrated greeter at the moment so a home who understands this and how to safely socialise him is imperative to ensure it does not become full blown reactivity.
Jacob could live with sighthound savvy children 3 years and upwards. He has shown no nippy, or bitey behaviour with humans and does not show any signs of resource guarding. He is currently kennelled with his littermate and they share nicely.
Jacob is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed and microchipped. He will need neutering at a relevant age agreed between ourselves and any new potential adopters.
Jacob is currently located in Stoke on Trent and anyone wishing to offer him a home must complete the pre adoption questionnaire below.
You must also be willing to travel to meet him with all immediate members of the family and any current resident dogs.
